KOHIMA: Union defence minister
Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday visited forward posts of the Assam Rifles along the Indo-Myanmarese border in Nagaland.
"The minister was accompanied by Lieutenant General Gopal R, GOC of Spear Corps," said a release issued by PRO (Defence) Col C Konwer.
The minister witnessed the prevalent conditions and ongoing operations of units deployed on the border and was briefed by commanders.
She has expressed immense satisfaction on the high standards of professionalism and dedication displayed by Spear Corps.
Sitharaman also interacted with state government functionaries and representatives of other security agencies and also met local community leaders of the area.
She left for Delhi later in the day.
